Author Hour: Gwen Tuinman & Ramune Luminaire In-Person
Take a break after a busy week and join us for readings, refreshments and conversation at our Friday evening Author Hours.
September: Gwen Tuinman & Ramune Luminaire
Gwen Tuinman is descended from Irish tenant farmers and English Quakers. Her storytelling influences include soul searching, an interest in bygone days, and the complexities of living a life. Fascinated by the landscape of human tenacity, she writes about women navigating the social restrictions of their era. Gwen lives with her husband on a small rural homestead in Ontario’s Kawartha Lakes region.
About Unrest
Brash, duplicitous women, murder and mayhem, and illicit love abound in Unrest, a wild adventure for fans of Outlander and The Home for Unwanted Girls, set in Bytown (Ottawa) in 1836.
Ramune Luminaire was born in Montreal, moved to England when she was 10, and returned to Canada 34 years later. She has worked as a magazine editor, TV scriptwriter specializing in “talking head” documentaries, visual artist, educator, and abundance coach. Ramune now writes and makes visual art in her studio near Peterborough.
About Coming of Age...Again
For twenty years Lisa West has been self-sufficient and single. Now she is considering a relationship, but since her menopause sex seems to be painful. And everything about dating has changed since the last time she tried. This is a story about daring to be different, learning to state your own needs, and trusting that love changes everything.
About Interviewer Monique Chénier:
Originally from Northeastern Ontario, poet, teacher and avid journaler Monique Chenier has been hard at work writing a novel since moving to Peterborough two years ago. This fall, she’s also turning her attention to Creative Nonfiction and hopes to spend January 2026 at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity focussed on honing her skills in that genre.
