Crafternoon: Indigenous Beading with Judith Keesic In-Person

Ages: 13+

Set aside an afternoon to craft with us and learn new skills along the way.

Bead a Turtle Island-themed pin/broach while learning to do seed bead embroidery. After beading our pin, we will learn how to finish or edge the pin to secure the backing for a finished look.

About our instructor: Judith Keesic is an Anishinaabe Indigenous artist from Lac Seul First Nations. Currently Living in Peterborough/ Nogojiwanong, she has been doing beadwork since a teenager, taught by her gookum, auntie, and mother. Judith has held workshops in the past for Ontario Tech, Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre, and Pickering library. Currently, she is an undergraduate at Trent University in the Arts and Science Honours program (BAS). Enthusiastic to speak on her Indigenous knowledge and teach the skill of beading, her many forms of artwork can be seen on Instagram and Facebook under DayskyDesigns.

Please note: a supply fee of $15.00 per person will be charged at the time of registration.
